TRT is a medical treatment designed to supplement or replace testosterone levels in individuals experiencing low testosterone levels, also known as hypogonadism.

As men age their testosterone levels decrease. Most men over the age of 35 can benefit from TRT to optimize their testosterone to levels when they were at their peak. Men who experience symptoms of sub-optimal testosterone, resulting in decreased libido, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, or mood changes, may benefit from TRT. A consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary to determine if TRT is suitable.

TRT can be administered through various methods, including injections, transdermal patches, gels, pellets, and oral tablets. The most appropriatemethod depends on individual preferences, medical history, and treatment goals. At MHTC we focus on injections.

When prescribed and monitored by a qualified healthcare provider, TRT is generally safe and effective. However, like any medical treatment, TRT may carry risks and side effects, which will be discussed during the consultation process. This is why we require on-going testing to continue your TRT protocol.

The timeframe for experiencing the benefits of TRT varies among individuals. Some patients may notice improvements in symptoms within a few weeks, while others may require several months of treatment to achieve optimal results.

Common side effects of TRT may include acne, fluid retention, increased red blood cell count, and changes in mood or behavior. Serious side effects are rare but may include cardiovascular issues, sleep apnea, and infertility.

Current research suggests that TRT does not significantly increase the risk of prostate cancer in men with normal baseline levels of testosterone. However, individuals with a history of prostate cancer or other prostate issues should discuss the risks and benefits of TRT with their healthcare provider.

Unfortunately, it does not. We are unable to file claims to any health insurance agencies. Lab work is usually covered by most insurance companies but this is greatly dependent on the type of coverage you have and the doctors within your network. While we can’t file on your behalf, flexible spending benefits can help pay for treatment.

Regular monitoring of hormone levels and overall health is essential during TRT. Your healthcare provider will schedule periodic follow-up appointments to assess your progress, adjust treatment as needed, and monitor for any potential side effects.

TRT may suppress sperm production and fertility in some men, particularly at higher doses. Individuals concerned about fertility should discuss preservation options with their healthcare provider before starting TRT.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, stress management, and adequate sleep, can complement the effects of TRT and promote overall well-being.

Depending on the underlying cause of low testosterone, lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, and certain medications may help improve testosterone levels. However, for individuals with clinically diagnosed hypogonadism, TRT is often the most effective treatment option.
